Motive behind establishing NISER 

To provide quality collegiate education in basic sciences coupled with cutting-edge research at the undergraduate level.

Goal of NISER

A Primary objective of the institute is to train and nurture human resources in the Sciences for the knowledge economics of the future. 

Location -

Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India


Nature -

A premier fully residential Public institution under the umbrella of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Govt. of India. This institute is a constituent institution of Homi Bhabha National institute (HBNI).

Admission Procedure 

A) For Integrated MSc Program: After 12th - 
Duration of Program - 5 Years (UG + PG)
Students get selected for integrated M.Sc. programs through a competitive annual examination, the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST)

B) For integrated PhD (i- PhD) courses: After UG (Under Graduation) -

The admission is based on IIT-JAM / JEST score. The shortlisted candidates are then called for an interview process on basis of which the seats are allotted to the candidates.

C) For PhD courses: After PG (Post Graduation) - 


To get admission, students have to qualify the - NET (CSIR/UGC) / GATE / NBHM or equivalent examination valid for the current year in the relevant area of research.
