Want to go abroad for research विदेश में शोध के लिए जाना चाहते हैं।

While talking to students at Rajasthan, I came to know that they don't know about research in abroad. Some students know about JEST/GATE but don't have any idea more then this. Even if you will talk to them, you will find that they are underestimating themselves. I am going to give some views in following blog. 

Q : I have done/doing MSc from a college, where I didn't do studies and I didn't perform any experiment. Can I go for research in foreign?

A : Yes, but it will be really problematic for you, if you haven't performed experiments in your bleachers or masters. Since, you should do some project with any university or research institute. Contact professors of any institute and do at least a six month project. After that if you will try abroad, it will be favourable for you.

Q : I have done MSc many years ago. In mean time I was teaching in some college. Can I apply?

A : Yes, you can apply but you have to show that you know your subject.

Q : I don't know English, can I go abroad?

A : If you are doing MSc, you know English as much it is required at base level. Now, you can do practice for learning English and you have to take training of the language of the country in which you are interested.

Q : Is there any country which takes students with some local exam?

A : Yes, there are several institutes/universities outside India which consider GATE score. Here I am writing few of them:

• Singapore: National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Nan Yang Technology University of Singapore (NTU).
• Germany: Technical University of Munich (TUM) and RWTH Aachen University

Q : What are the ways to get admission abroad other then GATE?

A : There are other exams like GRE, TOEFL etc.

Q : GRE and TOEFL are very expensive, do I have other ways?

A : Yes, there are many institutes in Europe which ask for positions time to time. You have to visit on their websites and write email to the institutes you are interested. You will find the way. You can discuss your BSc/MSc teachers about the research going on outside India.

Q : I want to do research in India only. Why should I think of abroad?

A : Yes, you can do. But if you can learn something from abroad and come back to India for better, there is nothing wrong. If you are not interested in going abroad or learning something different then it is your personal choice.

Q : I am not able to get selected even in Indian research institutes. Who will consider my application abroad?

A : This is not a correct excuse. May be Indian institutes are not able to understand your creativity, so you couldn't get selected. If you will apply abroad and perform well, you can get selected. I know many person individually, who get rejected from Indian institutes and doing good research abroad.

Q : What is the scholarship outside India?

A : It depends on the country and institute. You can find there are institutes which are not paying anything and you can get institutes which are paying their students more then a professor in India. It also depends on the inflation in that country. It also depends on the reputation of Institute.

Q : I have listen that they ask for bond. Is it true?

A : As per my knowledge, you are free to leave research anytime in your life. But if you are going to do research, you should not leave in between. Try anywhere for research only if you have interest in it.

Q : I don't know my interest. What should I do?

A : I do not have answer of such questions. If you don't know, you have to discuss with  people and try yourself in all frames. You will find something about your interest.
